MT5 chart types
There are three types of charts in MT5 (MetaTrader5).
- Bar chart
A popular chart for technical analysis is the bar chart, where each time series is represented by one bar. Each bar has two horizontal lines showing the open and close levels. The very top of each bar represents the highest price traded during that period, while the bottom signifies the lowest. The horizontal notch to the left is the opening price, and the notch to the right is the closing price.
- Candlestick chart
This is popular in Japan and Taiwan, among other regions, including Europe and the US. The candlestick chart displays the open, close, high, and low prices of a trading instrument.
- Line chart
A line chart visually plots the closing prices with a single line. It provides a simplified view by displaying only the close prices, making it easier to identify the market's direction.
